A modern perspective on training that enables them to dance beyond their age limitation.
Placement into the Upper Division is based solely on audition. Upper Division students (new and returning) are required to participate in a week of placement classes, designed specifically for our pre-professional program. During this first week of classes, students will be evaluated by a highly-qualified panel of guest adjudicators for placement into the different pre-professional levels that are offered at ICSB.
Students in this program must demonstrate a serious interest and commitment to training several hours a week according to their level, including mandatory rehearsals. Students at this age begin to explore contemporary/modern movement to develop versatility and adopt a new perspective of ballet. The Upper Division is divided into 2 levels: Pre-Professional A and B.
In the Upper Division, the age requirements described and structure of our program is used as a general guideline to the function of our program. At ICSB, dancers are placed in a level according to their current technical ability and will not keep a dancer in a level solely based on age. The syllabus is designed to build upon concepts introduced in the previous level. However, dancers may often be moved up a level according to improvements in technical ability.
