AUDITION for the
Ballet Institute
The International City School of Ballet welcomes auditions from serious dancers ages 12–20 interested in full-time, year-round pre-professional ballet training.
Admission is by audition and based on each dancer’s current technical foundation, musicality, coordination, artistic potential, work ethic, and readiness to benefit from intensive individualized training.
You do not need to create a formal audition package specifically for ICSB. If you already have recent ballet footage that clearly shows your dancing, you are welcome to submit it for an initial review.
A recent classical variation, class footage, coaching footage, rehearsal footage, or other recent ballet video may be submitted. If our faculty would like to see additional material, we will contact you directly.
HOW TO AUDITION
Option 1:
Submit Existing Footage
Already have recent ballet footage? Send it.
You may submit:
a classical variation
recent classwork
coaching footage
rehearsal footage
pointe work
other recent ballet footage that clearly shows your current level of training
A recent classical variation may be sufficient for an initial review.
If we need to see additional barre, center, pointe, or other material, we will contact you.
Option 2:
Film a Simple Audition
If you do not already have suitable footage, submit approximately 5–10 minutes of barre and center work.
There are no required combinations. Choose exercises that allow us to see your current classical ballet technique clearly.
Professional filming is not required. A phone recording is completely acceptable.
SUBMITTING YOUR VIDEO
Upload your footage to a platform that allows our faculty to view it, such as YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, or Dropbox.
Please make sure the link is viewable without requesting special access.
Then submit the link through the Ballet Institute Audition Form.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Audition materials are reviewed by ICSB’s Artistic Director and faculty.
After reviewing your submission, we may make an admissions decision, request additional footage, invite you to an in-person or virtual evaluation, ask you to participate in a class or private lesson, or contact you to learn more about your training goals.
You do not need to anticipate every piece of material we may eventually need. Start by sending us what you have.
