PRIVATE BALLET TUTORING

Individualized support for serious dancers.

Private Ballet Tutoring at The International City School of Ballet provides focused one-on-one instruction for dancers seeking additional support beyond their regular training.

Open to students ages 11 and older, including dancers enrolled at other schools and training programs.

A More Individual Approach to Training

Even in an excellent ballet program, group classes are designed to serve the needs of an entire room.

Private Ballet Tutoring creates dedicated time to focus exclusively on one dancer, identifying technical patterns, clarifying corrections, strengthening areas of weakness, and developing the skills most relevant to that student's individual goals.

For some dancers, tutoring supports a specific audition, variation, or performance. For others, it becomes an ongoing complement to their regular training.

Areas of Tutoring

Technical Development

Focused work on placement, alignment, strength, coordination, pointe work, turns, jumps, flexibility, musicality, artistry, and other areas requiring individualized attention.

Summer Intensive & School Audition Preparation

Preparation for selective summer intensives, year-round training programs, trainee programs, and other competitive training opportunities.

Sessions may include review of audition requirements, technical preparation, refinement of required exercises, and coaching designed to help the dancer present at their strongest.

Audition Video Preparation

ICSB offers complete preparation for dancers submitting video auditions.

This may include:

  • Review of audition requirements

  • Technical preparation of required material

  • Individual coaching and refinement

  • Selection of appropriate material when applicable

  • Professional filming

  • Professional video editing

  • Delivery of polished, submission-ready files

Audition Video Preparation is priced separately from private tutoring and is quoted according to the scope of the project.

Professional & Company Audition Preparation

Focused coaching for company, second-company, trainee, pre-professional, and other professional-track auditions.

Sessions may address technique, repertoire, presentation, audition strategy, and preparation of required materials.

Variation & Repertoire Coaching

Detailed coaching of classical variations and repertoire with attention to technique, musicality, style, artistry, and presentation.

Competition Preparation

Individualized technical and artistic preparation for ballet competitions, including refinement of existing repertoire and performance coaching.

Ongoing Supplemental Training

Regular private instruction for dancers who want additional individualized attention while continuing to train at their current school or program.

This may be especially valuable for dancers who are progressing well in group classes but want more focused attention on specific technical or artistic goals.

Private Coaching That Complements Your Training

Private Ballet Tutoring is open to dancers from throughout the Atlanta area and beyond.

Students do not need to be enrolled in ICSB's Ballet Institute and may continue training at their existing ballet school or dance program while receiving individualized coaching at ICSB.

For many dancers, private tutoring simply provides something a group environment cannot: uninterrupted attention to the individual.

How It Works

1. Tell Us What You Need

Families may request ongoing technical support or come to ICSB with a specific goal, such as a summer intensive audition, company audition, variation, competition, or video submission.

2. We Assess the Dancer

The instructor observes the dancer's current technique, strengths, habits, and areas that may benefit from additional attention.

3. Training Is Built Around the Individual

Each session is shaped around the student's needs rather than a predetermined class syllabus.

4. Progress Carries Back Into Regular Training

The goal is not simply to complete exercises successfully during a private session. Students are taught to better understand corrections, recognize technical patterns, and apply what they learn independently in their everyday classes.

Who Is Private Ballet Tutoring For?

Private Ballet Tutoring may be appropriate for dancers who:

  • Want more individualized attention than is possible in a group class

  • Train at another school but want supplemental technical support

  • Are preparing for selective summer intensive auditions

  • Need assistance preparing audition materials

  • Want professional filming and editing of audition submissions

  • Are preparing for a company, trainee, or pre-professional audition

  • Are learning or refining a classical variation

  • Are preparing for competition

  • Want additional support with pointe work or technical development

  • Want to improve a specific area of their training

  • Simply benefit from having an experienced teacher look more closely at their individual development

A professional career does not have to be the student's ultimate goal.

What matters is a desire to improve and a willingness to work with intention.

Serious Training. Individual Attention.

For more than two decades, ICSB has been recognized for highly individualized classical training and the development of dancers at every level of ambition.

Private Ballet Tutoring makes that individualized approach available to dancers whether or not ICSB is their primary training school.
